We were commissioned to provide a feasibility study and road access options with a supporting report for the expansion of the farm from six to eight turbines.
This involved access roads over peat and dealing with “floating roads” as well as interaction with all relevant statutory bodies such as SEPA, Scottish National Heritage, and West Lothian Council Planning and Highways. Future works will include borrow pit or sand box assessments and foundation appraisals of contractor designed elements.
Following on from Muirhall we carried out similar works at Stewart Tower Farm, Stanley, Perth. We were tasked with the overall design of the base for a 37m high turbine. Due to ground conditions, in situ testing was undertaken to obtain design parameters for both static and cyclic loading design. We were involved in all aspects including provision of reinforced concrete schedules and drawings as well as specification of concrete and grouts in adverse weather conditions.
